Colorado GMU 55

Hi, has anybody ever hunted unit 55 in Colorado. Taking the dude for his first bow hunt. Looking for any info.

Also as a side note, there is one place that sounds good but I understand that there are outfitters that have a drop camp there. I don't think that they can stop use from hunting in the same area. Do the outfitters have any type of agreement with DOW on where they camp? It's a national forest.

Let us know how the deer population looks....I've heard the wilderness area is where most of 'em hold up. Collegiate? Not sure...just second hand info. Good luck.

GMU 55 is in the Gunnison Basin which went through one of the worst winters last year. Thats where more of the emergency feeding took place. I had a buddy that went over there and he said there were Deer & Elk carcasses everywhere in 55 & 551
