I'd say he's kneeling at least 6 feet behind that hog.

I might have defended the story till I got the 3" pocket knife part. C'mon. You can't even reach the heart of a pig that big with a 3" blade. Unless the little angel is going to just lay there and give you the time to slice him open and reach in and stick the heart.

Hey. Us Texans have been known to tell a few tall tales, but I'm not even going to try and defend that one.

Good recipe at the end though. Thats pretty much how my freind cooks them at the deer lease. Really good.

I tried to stab the gristle plate(shoulder shield) of that 350 lb. pig my buddy shot 2 years ago after we had removed the skin & my folding hunting knife will not go through but will stop somewhere in the middle of the gristle plate. Our own dear booootiful Satchmo will also attest to the fact that her hunting knife failed to penetrate that 400 lb'ers thick shoulder shield till she had to switch knives with her sister & used that knife to good effect(I think that was a "shaft" knife of some sort, I can't remember distinctly just right now). I say, hogwash to that 3" pen knife. Some people will just elaborate, exaggerate, hallucinate till they are just downright silly if not ridiculous. Pure hogwash!!! 'Nuff said. larrysogla.

All I know is that you just gave me another place to look for hunting hogs in my new state. Beeville is a short drive from me. Making a note: ...Welder Ranch...

What a puss... eveyone knows real men use 2.5" knives... 3" is overkill and not fair to the hog.

I know that I'm going to be odd man out here but a hog's heart, or any animal for that matter, does not sit that far off the bottom of it's chest cavity. They only have armor on the sides and back, not underneath where you would stick them. If Satchmo had to switch knives to get through the armor then she just needed someone to point her in the right direction a little better. (Not knocking you at all Satchmo, just my observation) If you were to take and measure how far off the breast plate the heart sits, I guarantee you'd at least cut the heart with a 3" blade. Not saying this would be the most productive knife to use but it certainly can be done. As far as the 150# hog with a guy sitting way back behind it......well, I'd say it's not 800 lbs anyway.

That guy might have stabbed that pig in heart . The writers just deglected to mention the bullet he put in him first.
For a real pig look at Oct. Field & Stream page 20. There is a small pic of a 12 foot long supposed 1000 lbs. hog killed in June on a plantation in Georgia by Chris Griffin. He is standing there with it hanging over what looks like a huge mud pit that would swallow a Humvee.

Wello, I believe that is the same photo that was posted earlier in the year. The guy never had it weighed and only took the one picture, that in my opinion is very deceving as he is standing behind the pig. I think the pic is an illusion.

Yes, that Georgia pig in Feild and Stream is same pig in the 'Hogzilla, yikes' thread.
my first impression on that pig and picture is that it is huge but I doubt any deception of picture doctoring involved. A deception of words perhaps since the guy is 6' you can tell the pig is more like 9.5 to 10.5 feet totally stretched out. Maybe it was only 800 lbs. The article on cnn actually does say "Nearly" twice as long as the guy is tall... anyways, damn big monster anyway you slice it or bury it..

I just subscribed to the Time Life books---How to kill big giant boar hogs. I like to read. Last volume was how to kill big giant Blacktail bucks. It worked well in the A zone. Now if only the next volume would get here on How to kill big giant D-7 bucks, I'll be in the money.

I don't see how you guys can be so skeptical.....anythings possible.....why just last week I was walking about 2 miles from my truck when a 450# boar came out of the brush......I didn't have a rifle with me so I grabbed the boar by the ears and drug him the 2 miles back to the truck.....when I got there I had to put him in a head lock with my legs to get my keys out of my pockets and open the door.....I then grabbed my wifes fingernail file and killed the big tusker with one jab to the heart......so you see.....with a 3 inch knife this guy had it easy.
