Hi to all the Elk Hunters out there, I'm about to embark on my first elk hunt, and I've been invited on a private land cow hunt, but we're still down a couple of guys. You can hunt for a cow elk for the following fees:
$350 for the cow tag, $300 for the camp fee (all meals, lodging for a week, and gas for while you're out on the property comes out of this fee), and $600 trespass fee. We figure it's a total of $1600, which includes your travel costs to and from Rifle, Colorado (wanna CarPool?), so it is a pretty good opportunity if you want to hunt in Colorado on Private Land.
You will be in a party of 10 hunters, most of whom have hunted this ranch for 30 years or more. If you want in, it is a good opportunity, and I just need a pm to get you in touch with the group. The one thing that was a hitch for me was I needed to get a Hunter Safety Certificate, in order to get the license in Colorado. As with many states, they require it, even for their non-resident hunters. The tags have a deadline of April 3, so this has to be moved on, if you want to do the application. It can be done online, and the Department of Wildlife in Colorado has a few excellent tutorials on how to do the online application. You can also download the Big Game brochure, which will have the maps, and the Hunt numbers, but we'll help you with the application process.
Let me know.
