Just wondering if anyone knows how good the coyote population is up in deer zone C-4. The area is in Butte Meadows and since deer season is over, I need to find other hunting opportunities once the snow hits the ground.

Iv'e called a few in the timber around elm mountain up through westwood but not near the numbers that the high desert has.  I also have better luck after it cools down abit.  Opens up the window of oppurtunity.  Howling has worked pretty good lately.

andrew i think you would be surprised how many coyotes there really are and where they are!! california has lots, just get out early in the morning(for me anyway)and do your homework and you will at least see one. by homework i mean check out the area you want to hunt ahead of time. look for sign tracks if you don't see something look else where.

Andrew make sure you read up on the areas you are going to hunt. If you hunt at night get to know the laws about the lights you can use.
