One year I was calling it quits on the sheds and was ready to start the mushroom season.I still look for sheds while mushroom hunting, but it's the two totally different areas.
Most of my shed hunting is from city deer and my last couple trips hadn't turned up any sheds.
I had the two boys with me this day and we were getting ready to go look for mushrooms when the one boy said "will you find me a shed" I told him sure and didn't think much of it.
The first spot we got to we were just getting out of the car and starting in the woods when I saw a squirrel carrying what looked like a old bone.I put the binoculars up on him and it still looked like a old bone. Then I got to thinking and yelled at the kids to wait there.I started running up though the woods at this squirrel trying to see what he had.The squirrel took off still carrying this thing. He went a little ways then while trying to cross a fallen log he dropped it.I made my way up to it and sure enough the squirrel had a old chewed up shed.It looked like it would have been a nice 4 pt. side. The main beam was still intact, but all the tines were chewed down to it.There wasn't a spot on that shed that didn't have chew marks on it.
I did my part and found the boy a shed.
Anyone else chase one down or come up on a rodent chewing on one?
