The CZ75 Compacts are sweet but the RAMMI is a chopped CZ40. I had both and the CZ40 just ok. My Makarov on the other hand is more fun than a boys night out in TJ.

can you provide more feedback on the CZ pistols? - look nice and all - quailty would seem to be better tan makarov. My mak was indeed fun though - but was wondering what else was out there and someone mentioned CZ - heard the CZ rifles are nice but have never heard feedback on CZ pistols -

SoCalRudy - you say the 75Compact is pretty cool? what are the differences between the rami and the compact -- from the pictures ive seen look the same (or at least close dimentionally) are the internals different - one reason was more laning towards cz is 9x19 - vs the 9x18 oddball of the mak - any other comments anyone?

I've shot the Mak at the range -me and another shooter swapped for a few mags. I liked the Mak, but it didn't make me want to trade in my CZ P-01. Currently my only two handguns are CZ's; the P-01 (9mm) and 97B (.45 ACP) with thousands of rounds through each. I love them both and won't sell them off like I did my other handguns. My only knock on the P-01 is the light weight (24 oz. empty) due to the aluminum alloy frame. It gives a bigger punch than the full-size 75 or the Compact, with all steel frames. I admit I'm not good enough yet to appreciate the P-01's accuracy, but I'm getting there. It's definitely a fun gun to shoot, and it carries well IWB. The CZ Forum

is a great resource for anyone interested in CZs. Every currently-produced model has a separate page.

Howd'y Steve_7:
I own a CZ75B SA 9mm.
This is one Sweet Pistol. All ammo tried put's all 10 rounds in
one hole at 10 yd.
This is one of my carry guns, It has never hick-upe'd once.
I would bet my life on it or I would not Carry it.
It point's and shoot's very natural.
The only thing I have done to it is a trigger job because I am very fussy
when it come's to trigger pull, I like'em Light and crisp.
Also this is a single action but can be safely carried with one in the chamber
and the hammer down. It does not have a decocker so when you are ready to fire just thumb back the hammer to the cocked position and pull the trigger.
Also has the Polymere finish and it holds up great.
I would reccomend a CZ over any of the ones mentioned, But that it me.
Also CZ Service is great, I did not like the composite trigger they come with.
I was rough on the trigger and I called their service department and they sent
me a new Steel Trigger free of charge.
Stick with Factory mags., aftermarkets are no good for the CZ.

I had terrible service from CZ-USA on one of their rifles, and would never buy another CZ product. That is just my experience, and I have no experience with what (if any) service is available on a Mak.

One thing that reallybugs me about CZs are the price of the magazines, thats IF you can find them. I had to wait a month for the shop to get a 10 rounf magazine for my CZ bolt action .22. It was plastic and almost $40.00! The 5 shot stell mag costs even more...
But of course the little CZ is just awsome and hands down the best .22 rifle I've ever had.

BTW on my CZ40 the rear sights kept coming loose so finally a epoxied it in place.
But still it would some days not want to shoot to point of aim, then some days it was a tack driver. On the other hand as a close in (knife fight range) wepon it would be very good (it was in .40SW). As reliable as a Kerry flip flop...

My brother had the 75 Compact in 9mm. It took a trip to CZ too get to feed right. After say about 2-3 months? I only shot it AFTER CZ fixed it so it was flawless when I tried it. He traded to a old CZ75 (Pre B) with that ugly paint job. He is very happy with that one.

thank you all for the feedback was looking for a 9mm or .380 auto - and was primaily looking at RAMI, the 83, the 75 Compact, and the 75D compact - as well as the makarov -want something that could be used for ccw but more importanty something fun to shoot - perferably with standard "target style" sight vs the glock tactical sights. I didnt like the karr, i loved the size and feel of my makarov (9x18) i sold -- was perfect size - but would like to use standard 9mm ammo & ive never shot a CZ before. Thanks for some feedback on the quaity and all, i guess i was hoping to hear what the exact differences on the various models of CZ that i mentioned (except for the model 83 - which is the .380) --- looked at CZ webpage and couldn find any real differences between the RAMI, the 75 Compact, and the 75D compact. would be nice if i could find a local run range where i can rent the afore mentioned CZ's -- but none around here - that would be the best test. but cant find anyone around san jose that even carries them for sale. Not to familliar with CZ as you may gather - whats so bad about the RAMI (which was referred to as a chopped CZ 40 ) which apparently arent any good. can anyone elaborate -- thank you :)

socalrudy - you say your bro had a 75 compact and is happy with it -- has he ever sahot a makarov for comparison.

- dont think there is anyone to service a makarov - but i know they are pretty cheap. of course - not just lookign for the cheapest thing out there either. the CZ look nice - just wich i could see one in person and all.
