As we move closer to peak fire season, all our elevated fire restrictions are now in effect (target shooting was just added today). Here's what you need to know:

1. Campfires are only allowed in Forest Service-provided fire rings allowed at certain campgrounds, such as at the North Shore Campground in Lake Arrowhead, which is seen here. View the list of allowable campgrounds here in the exhibits section: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd647708.pdf

2.Holding a California Campfire Permits does not allow visitors to have campfires outside campgrounds, but it does allow for the use of a portable contained-gas or liquefied-petroleum stove or lantern with a fuel shut-off valve in areas outside campgrounds (e.g. a backpacker cooking food in the wilderness or at a yellow post site).

3. Smoking is prohibited, unless within an enclosed vehicle or building, or in an area listed here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd647708.pdf

4. Target shooting (new today) is prohibited, except at shooting ranges under permit (Arrowhead Fish & Game Conservation Club, Big Bear Valley Sportman's Club and Lytle Creek Firing Line).

The forest orders for these restrictions expire on December 31, but they may be canceled early or extended depending on the arrival of consistent winter weather conditions. Thanks for your help in keeping the forest safe!
