I was just wondering if anyone shed hunts this area. This is my backyard and I thought it would be cool to find some sheds, but don't know where to begin. I seen a buck around Lake Success with only one antler, so I guess that could be a place to start. I never realized how much deer activity there is around the lake. It surprised me.

try to find a funnel by the lake...chances are that they will skirt the edge although it is most likely frozen by now...maybe a swamp or a hill that funnels them through between there and the lake or try to find a hot bedding area near a food source...field edges are hot too if there is a little bit of cover....I hope to see some photos of the sheds you find in your next post
Good luck..only look for a partial antler or just something that is different...try too hard and you'll go crazy like me!!
Once again
Good luck

Thanks for the advice. I've narrowed down a few likely spots to go back to at the lake (this is California, the lakes don't freeze over out here). I'm almost tempted to ask U.S. Corps of Engineers & Fish & Game for bowhunting permission, with all the deer activity I've seen. I know you can shotgun hunt the area for dove and pheasant. Iwent for a walk the other day and watched a mountain lion from about 400yds away until it went out of sight over the next ridge. Never seen one that close to town.
