Alright, here's the story. Went up to my friend's property on thursday night. Hunted friday am for nada. Friday afternoon i put the stalk on a nice boar, with my bow, that looked to about 140 lbs. give or take. Just couldn't get a good shot and had to watch it walk into the brush. Last night we sat a pond and about 7pm here comes a bigger boar. It was a large open area with tall grass. I ranged the boar at 250 yds. at first, but he kept coming and so did we, crawling on our bellies. At 146 yds. my friend says, "Wanna get closer or just shoot him?" I look at the boar, then my bow, then I say, "Give me that damn rifle!" About 15 sec. later I had my first rifle killed pig. My friend says, "welcome to the darkside." Still very exciting, but very different from a bow, that's for sure. This was actually my first big game animal shot with a firearm. I've bowhunted only, never rifle hunted. Anyway, here's a link to the pic.

thanks for the comments everyone. just had a big bbq for easter dinner and we did up one whole front shoulder/leg. man was it good! once the table was set the hog disappeared a whole lot faster than the prime rib that was there. happy hunting!

Nice Hog! Congratulations! My motto; fill the freezer first THEN go play with your toys (rifle first, then muzzleloader or sticks).........

Good deal, Kodiak!

I love my bow too, but if I relied on it for a shot on a hog I'd still be eating chicken. I always vote for meat in the freezer first, then up the challenge for those "bonus" pigs.

I'm with the Speck, I have arrowed two hogs and have not found them but got one with a shotgun so there is now meat in the freezer and I am going back to bow hunting them with a shotgun on my back this weekend.
