Day-Long Activities Featured At National Hunting And Fishing Day
9/10/07
Springfield, Missouri - The 36th National Hunting and Fishing Day will have activities not only at Wonders of Wildlife, the headquarters for this nation-wide celebration of wildlife and the outdoors, but all across the country on September 22. National Hunting and Fishing Day was created by joint Congressional resolution and signed each year by the president since 1971 to be held on the fourth Saturday in September. This year is the second year National Hunting and Fishing Day has been headquartered at Wonders of Wildlife. On Friday evening, September 21, the Archery Hall of Fame (also headquartered at Wonders of Wildlife) will induct its newest class of members at a banquet in the White River Room.
Many new activities are scheduled for this year's day of outdoor fun. This year Wonders of Wildlife is partnering with the Student Outdoor Experience (SOE) at the NHF Day event in Springfield, Mo. "A partnership with SOE was a natural fit for this year's event because they are dedicated to working with students and families and helping them with the tools needed to successfully live life as a model outdoorsman or outdoorswoman," commented Misty Mitchell, Director of Conservation Programs with Wonders of Wildlife. SOE is a national group that conducts activities helping to interest young adults in the outdoors. SOE has several seminars planned throughout the day, which will take place on the outside stage and inside Wonders of Wildlife. They include:
10:00 am -- National Wild Turkey Federation
11:30 am - Student Outdoor Experience
1:00 pm -- Connecticut Valley Arms
2:00 pm -- National Archery in the Schools
3:00 pm -- Primos Hunting Calls
