Warren,

Thanks for dropping in, and for the info. Hope you stick around for a while.

The Africa forum moves slowly because most of us are US-based (and pretty much stuck here due to budgets, time, and all those other lame excuses) so African hunts are mostly still to be experienced solely through the pen of folks like Capstick, Ruark, and Hemingway. Still, any activity is welcome, and we'd love to hear more from you, JJ, and others who DO hunt Africa.

Salud!

Thanks for the welcome, I will def be around. It is great to find a forum like this where ideas can be debated and discussed in a friendly manner. It appears there are many decent hunters to be found here.

I have seen, and thought about these books. Thanks to all I will be ordering some of them. I too used to read a lot as a child, but have some how lost it to magazines and other. I think reading and stories are becoming almost a lost art in todays youthful society.
I am obviously new to this forum, but I already give it good praise. Hope to be chating with you all soon.

Hey, Welcome Big Chief!

Glad to see you're already finding value on JHO. There's a lot here, and if it's not already posted, it probably will be.

Big Capstick fan here. Wouldn't have the slightest interest in hunting if I hadn't read his books. (Actually, the credit has to go to a Jeff Cooper article on hunting cape buffalo, which led to Capstick, which led to Raurk, etc...)

Really enjoy the discussion regarding what Capstick was and was not in this thread, though I have nothing to add.

I was dissapointed to hear from poster Burgerman that the video series left a lot to be desired. I think I might still check it out, I see them on e-bay occasionally at reasonable prices.

I look forward to renting that Ghost in the Darkness film.

Thanks
