Deer Crashes into Car, Lands in Back Seat
October 17, 2003
CANNONSBURG (AP) -- Kentucky Highway Five at Cannonsburg in Boyd County was the scene of a pair of recent traffic accidents involving cars and deer.
An Ashland woman escaped injury Wednesday when a large deer crashed into the side of her van, then kept running. About the same time and in the same area, 65-year-old Louise Fannin was north-bound on the same road when her vehicle struck a deer and she wasn't as lucky as the woman from Ashland.
The deer crashed through Fannin's windshield, struck Fannin, injuring her, then landed in the back seat. Fannin lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the road, came back on the road, crossed both lanes and stopped in an open field.
Fannin was admitted to Cabell Huntington Hospital. Her condition was not immediately available.
Sheriff's deputies don't know if the same deer was involved in both accidents.
