Doesn't it always seem when you're hunting one game it's always another kind you actually encounter. Tonight was no exception.
The A zone deer hunting has been good to me so far with plenty of opportunities so far. I've actually missed a nice 3 pt and a stud fork horn this year, I guess I rushed the shot or something.
Well tonight I ran across a group of about 15 piggies all about the same size and after shooting a coyote earlier in the evening I figured I needed to build up the confidence some more and let the .270 bark once more. So I sent a 130 gr ballistic tiped bullet her way.
Hit right where I was aiming 1 inch under the left eye. She dropped immediately without so much as a kick or struggle.
Good pig, when I got up to her I'm guessing about 120-130 lbs, with lots of fat. The cool thing that I found out was that she wasn't pregnant, which is unusual. The pigs around here either have a litter or are prego constantly.
Hopefully I'll be able to fill one of my two deer tags this season, although I can't say that I've not had the opportunity.
Good hunting everyone.
