Well, you forgot your CPR certification, and your advanced firsrt aid ,(first responder)
training and card.
I find your list to be comical.  Many, many hunters have safely and successfully taken deer
without any of this excess baggage.
I thought the reason for going hunting was to get away from the city, not to take it with
you.
I routinely take 4 hunters for 6 days with 300 pounds max load.  This includes all food,
gear, and feed for 5 horses.
I don?t think I could get all of that junk in my 1 ton in one trip..
Sorry, I just have a different definition of hunting and totally different requirements as for
getting everything in and out.

I think it was meant more of a guide rather than a "must bring" list.  I know I don't bring my dog deer hunting for example...Thanks for the list Jesse.

as pointed out, the list is a general checklist. No, I don't lug all that around, I just use it to check off when I pack so I don't forget something really needed. If you find it comical or have never forgotten any gear you needed in the field feel free to ignore the post.

If you'd like to contribute a short list for horse packing and what you take I'm all ears, or is that eyes?

I have lists, and imposed weight limits for everything, and every one.  There is no way I
could pack without them.   If I have to go back after something, it's a day out, and another
day back in.
I know exactly what I have to have, and all of the junk that must be left behind.  I don't
have to test out my truck or my stock trailer because I keep them ready to go all the time,
and use them on a daily basis.
When we backpack into the Trinity Alps, my pack is limited to 35lbs plus the weight of
my rifle.  I don't care what anyone else brings, but I will not pack any of their gear either.
I have been hunting with pack strings and backpacks for over 30 years and I figured out
what to leave at home a long time ago.
All of the packers that I know of have a limit of 30 to 35lbs per person.  My limit is 30lbs
of personal gear per person, and as every packer does, I weigh everything, so nobody is
going to BS me either.
If you want to take a look at some of my lists, I will post some of them when I get back to
the valley.  I have different lists according to how many people I take in, if there is feed,
grass, for my livestock, or if I have to pack in cubes and grain.  Sometimes I will take in
an extra horse and wrangler just to take most of my string back out. On some trips the logistics of
keeping them there all of the time is impossible.
Safety of people and animals is always my first concern.  If something must be sacrificed,
then it will be items of personal comfort for the people involved.
On every trip, after the safety issues are met, total weight is the only issue.

Dang, Doghouse.

I mean, yeah, I've killed deer in jeans, sneakers, and t-shirt, and carrying nothing but a rifle and four shells.  But that doesn't negate the value of a good checklist if I am packing into the back country.  I don't think too many people are gonna expect that this "Checklist" means you have to carry all of the stuff listed.  

The "lists" you use to pack your horses are no different, are they?  You started with a big pile, and narrowed down through experience until you got your 35lbs p/person.  Well, for a newbie, they could start with Jesse's list, and through experience narrow down until they had the essentials.  And as you said, if you have to go back after something it's a long trip out and back.  

I have to admit to a smile at the "Boy Scout" aspect of such a comprehensive list, but only because I know people who tend to lug everything AND the kitchen sink everywhere they go.   But I know, as should anyone, that this is a "possibles" list... not a mandatory kit.

I didn?t express myself as well as I should have, your boy scout thing sums it up pretty
well.
I just got a good laugh out of the thought of taking all of that stuff hunting.  By the time
you got it all unloaded, sorted out
and arranged, it would be time to go back home.
It's like the attitude that no dear was ever killed anywhere until the last super mag hit the
market.  
I've killed many dear when I had to move the post ponder and the chainsaw to get
them in the back of my truck.
I to depend on my lists when I am packing.  I depend on them for the things that I must
include, and for everything that must be excluded as well.
I'm lucky that I live where I do, and was born and raised hunting, fishing and packing.  It's not something I do
a few days or weeks out of the year.  I'm in the national forest almost every day.  Even when I'm not carrying a rifle, I'm still hunting, scouting and watching
the wildlife.

Oh no,here we go again.

All these lists are for whimps.I never use a pack list,and I ALWAYS forget something every single trip.That's what keeps it interesting.I've forgotten pillows,alarm clocks,food,and just about everything else that can possibly be forgotten short of my rifle,ammo and TP.And SOMEHOW I managed to survive and have a good trip-who wudda thunk it?

The real reason is is that I'm too lazy to make a list and pack everything five minutes before I leave.
