Oh wow, what an offer and oppurtunity for someone. I'd go for it if I wasn't going to Colorado at the end of Oct. To anyone who wants to give elk a try, I'd give RoosterKiller a PM and see if your personalities match up.

I got the forest maps for ashley, dixie forest so will try and stay in that area. units we are looking at monroe, Mt Dutton, panguitch lake and paunsaugunt. Still doing my research once I get maps try locate some areas that are off the beaten path with google. Since first time going out of state its more of learning at this time but we are more than willing to put the effort and time it takes. I figured since it was open that I would not ask you since I know spots are hard to find and given out get flooded. but we still have not settled on one location yet. any suggestions on a meat processor if we do get lucky in that area. we plan to hike in a couple miles and setup camp friday if we can get away from crowds and hope elk get pushed towards us.thanks good luck

Nay's Custom Meats in Panguitch. His shop is actually a couple miles North of Panguitch on the East side of 89 across the street from a RV camp ground. Cell 435 676-8542 or 435 676-8210 We have used him several times for cow elk and he does a good job.

You are headed in a good area.Spike success rates for those areas are Monroe 16.3%, Mt Dutton 18.6%,pangutich 13%.

The area I hunt in is at 8% and I see spikes all the time. So you should do good. I sent you a pm on how to hunt the spikes.
Good Luck.

Not a bad price considering I'm a meat hunter only. Let me check my schedule and get back to you.
