Contact the local Corp. of Engineer office or the BOR office. They can help you. You can find the numbers at any of the lake or appropriate organization's websites.

I am not real sure about Don Pedro. I know there is BLB land on the south east side of the lake but I couldn't tell you what roads to take to get there. If you get a BLM map for that area it shows the land. As for New Melones, which tag do you have because some of it is D5 and some is D6. The D6 area has some walk in areas. The D5 area is best accessed by boat. The area is along the shore on the north side of the dam. There is a fence that marks the boundry along the shore up the hill a little. There will be plenty of boater/hunters on opening weekend. Very steep but doable. I've done it and seen does but no bucks. Weather was and probably will be hot as usual. On the south side of the dam is D6. You can boat in or drive the road off of 120/108 toward the prison and then walk in. Kentuck is right about getting a map from the Corp of Engineers for boundaries. You can get one at the entrance to Glory Hole at New Melones. Just be aware, you will not be alone. Many people hunt this land.

Your best bet for Melones would be to go in Peoria Flat rd and hunt the mtn between basecamp and the lake but you wont be the the only one or hunt Shell road but that too will have other hunters. My dad seen one of the biggest bucks hes ever seen from the lake at the very south end but didnt get a chance to get him. You could also use a boat to just cruise around, during bow season one year we seen 7 bucks together near morman creek so they are there just gotta be at the right place and right time.

As for Pedro you probably would need a boat and just go up river but its very steep, you can go all the way past wards ferry bridge I believe still and there are some good bucks there. You could hunt other parts of the lake too but Im not sure where other than to just cruise around.

I too have seen bucks in those areas. Only problem is my tag was a D3-5 and those areas are D6 if Im not mistaken. If you have a D3-5 I could give you a better idea where I have seen bucks on that park of the lake.

There are several D zone tags in the state. D3-5 covers zone D3, D4, & D5 so it would not be valid in D6. Go to fish and game website for more info and boundaries.

Yes, I know the D areas but all my tags were marked D-5. I hunted there from '70 to '02. Lived around San Andreas.

You can only hunt don Pedro and melones from a boat I believe, I'm pretty sure you can't find a road that isn't private property

Why only bow season you can hunt from a boat in rifle season also
