I just got back from an out-law, er, I mean "in-law" family reunion in Sedona, AZ.  The reunion left a bit to be desired so I'll spare everyone the details but... the one good thing is that while driving the 1000 mi round trip, I did see quite a few dove, even a few whitewings, for this time of year.  It's still really early but it's better than not seeing anything this time of year.

Anyone willing to make the drive to Blythe might consider the extra 90 minutes and $50 to hunt outside of Phoenix.  From what I understand there are only a fraction of the hunters and the rain that often spoils the Imperial Valley openers never makes it out to Phoenix.

On the downside, I'll have to admit that I haven't seen the quail numbers locally that I had earlier in the year.

I hunted outside of Phoenix twice in college (3 years ago).  There were as many hunters as birds.  Shot rained down on my head following every volley of fire.
