So a buddy Scottsad71 and I drew Javalina Tags in Az. Anyone else? Anyone else ever draw a tag here and have pointers? We have poked around, "google earthed it", pulled topos etc. Just trying to see who else drew and what people have for pointers. Kurt

My Dad, Brother, and I are putting in for the over the counter left overs for Units 21, 20B, and three others all around the Pheonix/Tucson area. (Their residents so cheaper for them). Wish you guys the best of luck. Hopefully we get one of our first 2 choices even thought their are only 8=unit 21, and 67=unit 20B.

Ill be in AZ on the 17th and the opener is on the 18th for us.(General Season)

No ideas on that unit, but I've toyed around with them before. Are you going bow or rifle? They have really bad eyesight and are easy to sneak up on. They're also pretty aggressive and can be called in. Try to look up some videos on the screeching sounds they make. Sometimes if you squeal at them they'll walk right up to you sidestepping broadside... which is pretty convenient for bowhunting. Have fun.

Shmave, I got your PM. Haven't had time to reply yet, I'll get to it.

Mind the weather.

My dad and his buddy drove across a dry wash one year out there and less than a half hour later the wash was full of water. They crossed ok, then hit a rock, ruined a tie rod and had to leave the truck 10 miles off the pavement for a couple of days. Tow bill to town was $1200 (in 1992 dollars). Typical flash flood where it was bone dry where they were but the hills in the distance got pounded.

I have always hunted unit 34A and not your units, but I think this will still apply. Glass! I've tromped up & down hills in the early years and did have some success, but with lots of sweat. About 10 years ago my friend and I decided to find a good vantage point and glass. our success has been as good or better than before and with much less exertion (and we are both very fit).

We each have a firm pad to sit on (if you don't have one-get one), and typically glass for 2-3 hours, then we hike over the next hill and start over.

Call the local Game & fish office to speak with the unit Ranger, in my experience they have always given good leads.
