JUST GOT BACK FROM ARIZONA

I'll post some photos soon of my roosevelt if i can figure how to do it. Check out next issue of California Bucks mag-my Goodale buck is inthere.(Eastern sierra injo mule deer buck 7x5, 174 last dec hunt near Lone Pine, ca.

My Klamath hunt was exciting and everything happened so fast with only seconds for a decision. Problem is- one foot off the road is a jungle that could hide a herd of elephants.

After fog lifted, and sneaking into prime clearcuts with sign but no animals(again bad fog so they slip away and no way to findthem or shoot)
Called with Sceery cow call and got one bugle which sounded like a nubie hunter practicing. no further sounds and thru the forest spotted bull munching on leaves with only thetips of the silver horns and a small pie-plate area that looked like his heart area. Watched him with my brother and Cary, tryingto hold my scope steady(30.06,180gr nosler), hoping he might step forward givng me a better shot but since it was so close to the road and could be spooked anytime-I threaded the needle. 6:30am and he disappeared back into the jungle until finally at noon found him on a trail, jumped up,took off so fast, my shot missed, and again spotted him through the trees running full bore with his head back and again shot him when he went thru a small open area. again , couldn't find him(three of us) until I heard banging on the trees in a draw and found him on the ground with his horns hitting the tree stump. they are bigggggg. Bigger bodies tha my rocky mountain elk. Ironically, both shots were in his right front shoulder few inches apart and the bullets were up along his spine and neck area.
Well-that's my story and i'm sticken to it! PS that was opening day-how lucky is that. Probably once in a lifetime like my mule deer hunt but would't trade the experience with my brother and cary for anything.-learned alot too. meat is great
Hope to be in Kaibab archery deer in two weeks depending on monsoon rains, wind, and snow.
Sorry about my typing-still have bum finger.

all for now,GOOD LUCK
