Getting ready for the Elk hunt in the Durango, CO area(10/20 - 10/25)  and while trying to get flights I found a good deal that takes me as far as Albuqurque, NM. Looks like about 200 miles from there to SW Colorado, has anybody every driven it? I'm coming in from Pennsylvania and am trying to decide on driving the whole way or flying most of the way and renting a 4WD. Any feedback on the quest from Albuqurque to Durango would be helpful. Thanks, gizz.

It's a easy drive all double lane highway in NM, with 70-75mph speed limit it's lots of speed goats down in flatlands up until Las Vegas, then Elk and Deer country when you get to Raton, you will most likely see Turkeys right from the road when you go over the pass at NM-CO. border, I have seen them almost every time I have come that way.

Safe drive and good luck.
