Easton Shooters Dominate Arizona Cup

4/22/2002

PHOENIX, ARIZONA, APRIL 2002 – In the desert north of Phoenix Arizona, with 100-degree plus temperatures, high winds and blowing sand, shooters using Easton’s X10 target shafts, dominated the 2002 Arizona Cup over the weekend of April 13-15. Using Easton X10s, Jason McKittrick of Indiana shot 10 after 10 to narrowly defeat X10 shooter Jay Barrs of Utah for the Gold Medal in the final round of this prestigious international tournament.

Joseph McGlyn of New York captured third place defeating top Swedish shooter Mikael Larsson, both shooting X10s. In fact, all recurve division finalists relied on Easton A/C technology in this important event.

In a drama-filled final in the compound men’s division, Dave Cousins shot his Hoyt Ultratec with Easton X10 arrow shafts for victory, but only after Dave gallantly “threw” an arrow to compensate for his opponent’s inability to shoot his first shot in time. “The X10 is unbeatable in windy conditions. Easton’s well-known tag line ‘Nothing Else Comes Close’ says it all,” said Cousins, after racking up his 4th consecutive Arizona Cup victory.

Displaying great sportsmanship, Cousins elected to discard his first arrow and start the match even. He went on to rack up an overwhelming 8-point victory. The 13th annual event featured nearly 200 archers from 8 countries.
