I have been curious what do elk and deer do in an a thunder storm do they freak out or do they just don't give a crap go on doing what they normally do. Well on a resent elk hunting trip to Colorado i got my answer we where on the top of a mountain trying to call a bull out from a canyon the bull was making his way up to us just 80yds away at the same time a thunder storm rolled in with heavy rain and lightning is hitting all around us and the bull never missed a beat the lightning and thunder never seamed to bothered him. We never could pull him from his cows but it was interesting and scary as hell at the same time.

My brother and I we calling a bull once and it was very hard to hear because of the rain wind and thunder but he never stoped but we did when a bolt hit so close there was no sound delay and our ears were ringing bad it was so loud, we don't know exactly how close it was but it couldn't of hit more than 200 feet from use I was seeing spots from being blinded.
