I'm just getting my feet wet on this subject, kind of testing the waters.
I have horses and mules, have hunted and packed all of my life. I just had a knee replaced
so I'm not as mobile as I used to be. I usually pack in with a hunting buddy who also has
horses for packing and riding. Between the two of us, we can go in and stay for a good
while.
I've packed on and off for 35 years, and have great animals, quiet and gentle, and very
nice equipment, camps, and tack.
What I'm looking into is hooking up with someone who knows an area that is remote, but
has good elk hunting, who would like to pack in and do some elk hunting.
I'll bring my livestock, and all necessary equipment, I just need a place to go that is
productive, and someone who knows where we are going and how to hunt that specific
area.
The logistics of setting up a trip like this are immense, it may already be too late for this
year, getting tags and all, but not too early to start planning for nest year. If I don?t get
started, I'll never get it done.
