If you look closely at the Russian hog's hair you will see that the ends are all split. The Feral's hair is straight.

I never looked real close.

Anybody got a pic to show the difference?

Here's a closeup of the bristles on a European boar.

I don't know about the split ends, but they certainly have thicker coats.

Those are great pics sdbowyer. I dunno about "gristled" hair, and never took a closeup of the split ends.

Here's the only pic I have (of a pig I took a couple years ago) showing some "bristeled" hair on his back. I think it's got more Russian in em than feral strain, but won't pretend I know for sure, either.

I shot this guy in Texas about 20 or so years ago 80-81 this is the best and only surviving picture I have, them 110 cameras where not the best I tried to get it closer without losing the image, this was suppose to be a pure Russian that weighted in at 300+ lbs the tusks were huge and look at the snout how long it was, hair was long wavey and matted, the shady looking guy's where the guides.
