This is hard to write, but everyone that has ever hunted Chopper's knows how they instantly had a friend named Dolly! The Ranch Hostess always greeted you in Chopper's drive way, wagging her tail. She loved to drive around in the jeep, tag along with the guys and loved to go hunting after pigs.

She was a great friend to all of us and last night she passed away. She died chasing pigs, something she always loved doing. Everyone was crushed and we all feel bad! She was more than a dog she was everyone's friend! Condolences to Chopper and his family I can't even imagine how much she will be missed.

Dolly you'll be missed by all!!!

The fact that she died chasing pigs makes it a little easier to swallow, but I am crushed. Dolly was one of the most amazing dogs I have ever known. She always greeted me with that wonderful slobbering pant and wide smile. Countless bad shots including mine were redeemed through her skill as a pig dog.

Chopper, please accept my thoughts and prayers. Dolly was a good friend to all of us. Be shure to let us know where you bury her so I can take my hat off as I pass the grave.

When we got out of the truck to start tracking, the three dogs were in the back, they were excited and wanted to get out and hunt. Dolly was released first then Trixy and lastly sparky. All three were really working the area hard. Pig scent was everywhere. We heard a couple of barks, one from I think Trixy and possibly another from Dolly (I could be wrong but that's what I believe). We were out there for quite a while, the dogs were winded. Kirk and Tony were ahead of the rest of us and really got in the thick stuff. It wasn't until we started back down that I heard over the radio that Dolly wasn't back with the other dogs. Speck found her first and a couple of us stayed with her until she passed shortly after. Her eyes were open and looking around, she just didn't have it left in her to do much more. This is one night I will never forget.

Trixy got a little cut up on some barbed-wire but seemed OK.

Chopper's son hung around us more than I had experienced on previous hunts. He was out there with us tracking the hog when all this went down. He's got a lot of grit.

So sorry to hear about Dolly. Jason called and told me this morning about it. She was a hell of a dog. I loved it one morning when Chopper opened the door to the Safari Wagon and said, "Go get'em Dolly, earn your keep". She tore out of the truck searching for those pigs.

That picture of Dolly and I with the hog was one of the most amazing hunting experiences i have ever had. Chopper and i spotted somehogs down in the swamp from the radio tower just before dark. He drove me down as quickly as possible and i proceeded to run across the field trying desperately to get in position before dark.. To make a long story short, i shot a hog just at dark, when the arrow hit the hog squelled which was enough to make Dolly fly out of the jeep and run two or three hundred yards across the field.. The pig took off into the poision oak and Dolly followed.. At the time i was kinda mad because i thought Dolly was going to make the hog go much farther then needed.. Dolly caught the hog about 150yds into the brush and the fight was on.. I have never witnessed anything like this. Dolly ended up dragging that hog all the way down to us where it was killed with a knife.. I constantly tell people about that experience. Easily the toughest dog i've ever seen...

I met her twice - the first time just after she had had pups a few weeks before. I wished then that I had been able to buy one, as I fell in love at first sight! She was a helluva dog!

My condolences to Chopper and his family. My wife just lost her little dog, that she had before we got married. A heart attack. It's hard to get used to not having them greet you when you come home.

Again, condolences, Chopper!

Chopper and Family, sorry for your loss, I know Dolly 's been with you for a while. Just in the short time that I have known her has been just amazing.

I remember the first day of hunting on Choppers almost two years ago. I hunted with AS the morning after he shot his sow, and Dolly joined us to find his pig, sure enough, she was on it in no time. Can't forget the story of Dolly, AS, and BDB going after Steve's pig.

She was later described as the Wonder Dog, and she sure was that. I'll miss watching her do her thing and running up to the truck with those longing eyes expecting you to drop your tailgate and haul out a hog, or reluctantly giving up here seat in the Safari Wagon for us to take.

Dolly, thanks for the memories and thank you for letting me take your seat so many times...

On my second hunt at Choppers, BDB arrowed what he described as a "100lb sow"...well, once Dolly picked up the trail and found the wouded hog, i quickly realized it was a 210lb boar w/ some nasty cutters. She man-handled that pig & i knew if her grip loosened, i'd be in a bit of trouble in the small opening of chamise. She held as i located my knife.......her mouth opened only after the pig stopped moving. She was one tough dog.

Here's a great picture of myself and orso w/ his hog....dolly found it and as you can see in the photo, she never left the pig's side till it was quartered...once found, she lays claim to it.

Well I cant say that I have alot of fond memories hunting with Dolly, having only met her that same morning when Bubba and I raided Chopper's ice machine.

I do recall seeing her spring into action when chopper released her and the other dogs to find the hog. I hope that when it is my turn to go, I am doing what i live to do also!

Sorry for the loss Chopper!
