on the d380 the external power needs to be 6.5v my silly question is does it have to be exactly 6.5 or can it be more say 9v or 12v

Yes, you need to match the 6-6.5V for the D-380's external power connector. If you connect 9V or 12V you will damage your camera if you do not use a voltage regulator.

not to hijack the thread but what power source do you sugest for your new board haymaker ?c's or aa's.

do you guys use voltage regulators, and do they carry these at radio shack i'm not really familar with this. sounds kind of expensive

skinny... I think most people will use external D or C cell batteries.. You just need to use the right number of batts to equal the voltage you need.. You will not need a voltage regulator to do this.. If you use a 9V, you will have to get some sort of regulator...
