I hated the 16 and M4 for that very reason. During range quals, somewhere about round 100, I'd have to start using the assist every third round. After 150 rds, partial ejects started happening.

Cleaning it was a bear, to many little nooks and crannies for carbon to build up.

It was accurate and easy to use for even the most novice shooter and I guess that's what it was designed for.

I never had an issue with my M16A2 in the military but I do prefer a piston setup. I finally got some range time with a civilian version of the H&K and it's a nice firearm.

I didn't want to wait for the MR416 though and got a scar instead.
