Ok here it is,  the ultimate in motion sensing! The grandfather of the RS 49-425.
Take a look at http://www.radioshack.com part # 49-329
1.This sucker can handle up to 120 deg. F!! That takes care of our hot temps.
2. It can be activated with remote.
3. No dimensions given, keypad might be bulky.
runs on AA's (2 months)
4. Now we need someone with some smarts to dissect this thing and see if its got possibilities.
It says they are available in stores, so I may go peek at one :wavin

All the PIR sensors I've seen claim a 120 degree rating. All the game cameras do too. You would still have trouble with this sensor in the heat just like all the others do since they work on the same principle.

As for the remote, I prefer a switch on the unit. A remote is just something that you will forget or lose, just ask the guys who own the Buckshot that takes a magnet to turn it on and off and how many times they lost or forgot their magnet.

#39.95 is a bit pricey for a PIR.
