The wife could tell I've been restless lately, " Why don't you go for a hike/hunt up at the ranch while I sleep in". I had been meaning to do some work up there in preparation for A zone opener anyways, plus I'm tryin' to work out the legs for the Nevada high country, so off I went. Well, I never got the workout in, she didn't get to sleep in, and no work got done..... All this because I got lucky and double lunged a 100 lbs. hog 5 minutes from the truck! A short drag through the wet grass and back home for breakfast w/ the kids. Here's to all you Dads

Woo Hoo!!
JHO's are still stackin' them up..Is it just me or is this a really good spring for killin' pigs?

I hope to get another for myself in a couple of weeks.

Congrats, Mike! That's a great way to spend your Father's Day.

Got your buck staked out up there yet?

Okay so maybe I am a bit jealous. I would have loved to have nailed my second pig on this special day. I was suppose to get up to Tejon today and shoot squirrels with my kids but it seems I misplaced the set of car keys which has my Tejon gate key on it. So we went to the movies instead. Important thing was spending time with the kids today.

Thanks men... I cut the tenderlions out before I brought the hog to the butcher.... Marinated all day, tough as hell to eat tonight

. Do they need to hang a week like a deer? I didn't think so, but I may be wrong....

PS- FYI... I watched this hog for 15 mins before the shot. He actually used his front leg to pull down the tall grass and eat the tops. He also leaned into the hillside and pushed the grass down w/ his body to do the same. In all my years of hog hunting, this was a first for me...

You got a picky eater gourmet hog. Normally, they just root the grass and eat all -- including the roots and some soil with it. Must be a graduate of some finishing school.
