I had whatever the entering point total is for active duty. I'm waiting to hear back from a buddy with the same. How many points did you have?

18, same as you, except as a retired guy I started with 15. I figured with the reduced quota it be tougher.

Well it looks like you'll be a shoe in next year as long as they don't reduce the hunts and quotas again.

Going into next year with 19,might as well do the 447 Xmas bull draw. I'll be competitive with 19 points.

Yea my plan is to start building points for that hunt next year. Since I have zero elk hunting experience I wanted to get my feet wet a little first. I'd hate to screw up a Bull hunt after waiting x amount of years due to lack of experience.

It would be nice if FHL would publish all app, point and success numbers like DFG does. I put in for 448 this year instead of 444 because it worked better with my schedule. I considered putting in for a bull tag just to get a point because I didn't think I would drawn with no extra points after getting drawn last year but decided that I really just wanted to go elk hunting this year and don't know if I will still be stationed in CA next year and able to use the point. Sorry to hear you didn't draw again this year. I'm not trying to rub salt in the wound, but I just found out my buddy also drew both 448 and the G8 for hunt with 18 active duty points so it sounds like that was the magic number. Were you drawn as an alternate?

Not that I know of, It'd be nice publish the alternate list as well. Last year, the xmas bull hunt numbers were 5 with 20 pts, 15 with 19 pts....then everyone else.

Just got the phone call that I drew the archery either sex tag. This should be interesting with how hot it has been up there recently. I just left there last week and it was brutal!!!
