So first time Pig hunting at FHL last weekend. I'll save you the suspence and tell you we did not get our pigs. Although we hunted hard from before dawn till past dark. We got TA 29 and so did 26 other hunters, most for turkey. There were hardly any good areas open because of all the training going on like JT posted. We had been planning this for a couple months so we were willing to take our chances. In retrospect we should have gone for turkey. We saw about a dozen on friday! Sunday late afternoon we headed to Brysen Hisperia resort and got a great Hog 101 crash coarse from Deedee. She said, "are you sure you don't want to go for turkey?" "The place is crawling with them", and she was right. But we were after bacon and hind-sight is 20-20. right. Well, next time:(

All in all we still had a great time and I know where I will be for spring turkey hunting next year. Thanks Deedee for your time and hospitality.

Thanks Jeff, that is a great map, it really made it easy to figure out what we were looking at. The hand-outs they give are tough to read unless you already know the area. The rifle areas open were 8 and 4. The shotgun and muzzel loader spot was 29 but that was also one of the hot turkey spots so everybody and their brother were there. I would say the camp was about 1/3 full and another dozen early morning walk-ons. We saw a ton of gobblers driving around the day before but non of those areas were open. Saw lots of elk, eagles, coyotes and about 40 deer. Going to post something in the the bird section as we were breathing in quail and lots of ducks at the resivoir in the morning.
