Well I just got to FHL and at the gate after the gate guard figured out I can bring weapons inside if they are registered already (I have to explain this to them every week), they informed me there is a new procedure for entering to go to hunter registration. They directed me to pull over while they ran plates and Lic, then wrote me up a visitor pass for one week. I wouldn't think much of it but combined with all the other bs going down at FHL it has me worried. They are not at any unusual security alert as far as I could tell.

Being treated like a criminal is not my idea of weekend fun. I feel that it's only a matter of time before they close the base to hunting. Anyone want to bet against me?

They did that to me last week. See paragraph 2:

Actually, I didn't mind - I viewed it as a convenience. Once you have the visitor pass for your truck/car, then all you need to show is the pass and your DL when you go in and out, until it expires.

It used to be that you needed to have your DL, registration, and insurance papers ready rto present every time you passed through the gate. For me that's 2-4 times a day. The new method is much easier - keep the pass on the dashboard and just have your DL handy.

I didn't see it as a red flag, but I'm still pissed about the $134/night Gibb Hall thing.

i had the same thing happen but over at camp Roberts I thought it was good cause instead of stopping me all the time I passed through the gate they would waive me through with the pass.

They also told me last week that you could get a permanent pass at the police station.

Ahh..... but is the police station open for business on weekends? A permanent pass would be nice - providing they didn't charge $100 for it. :D
