No better way to start the new year than with a pig hunt. Lockbox #3 you say army lodging? Looks like we have a problem. And so the adventure begins.

Yeah check in bldg inside cantonment now, by gas station, old library bldg. Got on some fresh solo hog tracks that headed into bedding area. Wind was swirling everwhere n finally calmed down before dark. Coyote sounded off right above me so i set up a hasty ambush but he wasnt buying my kiss of death call, he may have winded me. Bobcat tracks everywhere n I got my medicine for them. Off for some grub n git back on em tomorrow. No quail heard or spotted which is rare here. Roads are a mess but drying out.

Registration open 1 to 5pm tomorrow new years eve day

Well I finally saw some pigs, 4 of em in the road around 9pm and them dern things put me in the ditch. :pig laughin::hog::hog::hog: :yikers: I first saw mamma and one lil one on the left shoulder just past that 90 degree left is as you come up to where you can see cantonment. Luckily I had just come out of that hairpin and was going slow, I was looking at the 2 on the left as they were rooting around when out of the corner of my eye I saw 2 lils pigs dart in front of me from the right. I swerved and thought for sure I was gonna clip tail end charlie but no thumpa thump. The guy behind me musta been laughin he azz off watching me take the ditch. I backed the truck back out on the road and a cop came by and we looked to make sure I didn't clip the last pig, no damage or blood found. I asked them if I had grilled the hog would I get to keep it and they said nope, gotta leave em lay. They were all black, momma had a white stripe it looked like maybe 125 lb. The lil ones looked 50 lbs maybe.

Had to clean up a lil after that close call. :toilet paper roll:

And of course my new POS GoPro cam I had running as a dashcam was acting up so I had just given up and left it off. Gah!!!!! :smiley_doh:. One of the reasons I got it was for the stuff I see on the road and I miss some good almost dead hog action. :far-side-guy-yellin

Well I'm restricted to living through your adventures as for almost the past 2 weeks I've had acute sciatica; thank God it's starting to slowly get better. I'm gonna get to work on getting myself squared away to hunt FHL this coming year as you guys are simply have to much fun there.

Best of luck!

Was in TA 7... Had the same probable checking in my hotel at 2AM which i warned them about what time I will be arriving . Ne ways arrived there Friday 2AM camp was quite everybody asleep decided to go by the registration office and kick it with my friend inside the car until they open... 5.15 AM still no sign of hunters or the registration opening up.... Decided to go by the windows and they a look... Saw they changed the office to another place drove down there and registered in area 7. I've taken pigs out of that area a few times so I had high hopes... Totally missed out on knowing that it was a full moon but I put that aside and hit area 7 the hardest I've ever done... 3 full days of hitting it hard walking driving with my new crawler 2012 black Nissan Titan 4x4... I was surprised I didn't see many people in the area... But one thing I did see was someone was baiting in the area with corn for pigs... I don't like to snitch people out and run to the Warden as soon as I see something... Even though i did come across the Warden when i towed out a guy that was stuck big time with a mini van... Nice guy though.... Found fresh rooting everywhere in area 7 but I knew either the pigs were there before the weekend or they came out at nights since it was a full moon... I heard and spoke to one of the guys that took out a pig in area 29... Till next time....

I talked to a couple guys who hunted area 29 they said the pigs where deep in there in the hills near the fence line. My little Nissan frontier couldn't make it far into 7 so I gave up on that and moved to 13e yesterday. Seen 3 pigs this morning and fumbled my arrow around and missed two perfect shots under 30yards...

XDHUNTER, you got any chilli peppers ready? I saw that red Nissan Frontier parked on the 13E parking lot yesterday but couldn't locate the owner. He may have been hiding in one of those bushes and spun out of there when I was not looking....hehe.

Anyone heading out this weekend for round 2? I was going to head out to take advantage of the last bit of upland season, but my FHL pig permit has been approved and it is a quick shot up the 101 to FHL....

Got skunked, but found a lot of nice rooting and tracks.

How many people are allowed on one TA at a time??? seemed like I had people all over the damn place.
