Does anyone know if I buy a weekend permit for FHL does it have to be used before June 30?  On the reg form you need to put your hunting licesne # and after June 30 I'll have a new one.  Thanks in advance.

I just mailed in my annual pass to HL.  When I go up there, later this month, I will use my 2001/2002 license and pig tags.  My new license, tags, and annual pass take effect on July 1, 2002.  After your third trip to HL the annual pass has been paid for.  Now, if we can get on anywhere because of the increased training.

Have you guys checked with FHL lately? Because I heard somewhere that the close the hunts there due to Sept. 11, so you might want to give them a call if you haven't done it yet.

I seem to have lost the number of the recording that gives all the info on receiving the permit. Can someone give that to me? Thanks!

1SoCalHunter,

FHL was closed for a few months, but they opened back up.  They do seem to have increased training and aren't open as often as one might like, but they are open in general.  Note that you need to call the Thursday before the weekend you'll be hunting to see if they're open that weekend.  So if you're going to be making plans to head up there, it might be good to have a backup spot of two ready.

As a note, that Hacienda has GREAT FOOD!!!!  Usually there is a chef cooking and he will come out to your table and ask how everything is.  There is no tax on the food and the prices will take you back about 20 years.  You can have a lunch for under $5 or prime rib for around $12 and ice tea is $0.5 with free refills.

Also, sometimes as early as Wednesday evening they will have which training areas are open on their recording.  Just make sure you listen and hear that the dates are for the upcoming weekend and not the previous weekend......

There is also a recreation center with free weights and a swimming pool for a dollar fee or something.

Really great place, with lots of game.  I have not figured it out yet, and I live in San Diego.   If I lived an hour or so away I would spend most all of my weekends there!!!!

The Hacienda can get crowded so get there early and plan on waiting a bit or call in for a reservation. If no table is ready I like to order my meal and then eat it out on the patio with the sunset and deer and elk sometimes in the field.

I scanned the new FHL hunting permit application up tonight if anyone wants to download it to print and send in.

You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to downlaod this hunting app

Mine is gone already of course. Just hope I get to use it huh? Have a feeling more than usual training will be happening. Always during deer season too as you who go there know. But we'll see
