Thinking about taking a trip out to Hunter Ligget next month. Been a few years..

Anyone know what the minimum caliber that can be used for Pigs?

Can you use .223 ?

Thanks

Why stress the .223 just use that 7mm and put a hole in it!

In my opinion, you might be ok, if it is a long shot, and you can shoot off a rest or sticks, but really, it is a chancy one. Not as much punch as they usually need, and you could be chasing a cripple for quite a ways. Why not get a .270? Do they have an AR chambered for that? That would be a very versatile gun. The .308s are pretty common, so depends on what you want, but the .308 was my first rifle for deer, back in the day, and served me well.

Put a 6.8 upper on that AR and your son is good to go. Silver State Armory sells 6.8 lead-free ammo.

Who all is going this weekend? I see that it will be raining most of the weekend except for Sunday. Thank God it is a 3 day weekend.
