I haven't been on the base since my elk hunt a few years ago. Since it was over the Xmas holidays everything was closed up. What do they have open as far as placed to eat? We are thinking of staying at Gibb Hall, but if I have to drive into town to eat, may stay in town.

Tks!

I don't recall that there is anywhere to eat. I think the bowling alley may have something at lunch....but I believe that's it. Last time I stayed at Gibb hall, we just used the kitchenette.

Yep that's about it. Pizza and sandwiches at the bowling alley is about it unless you want to go the PX and grab some microwave food.

Closest restaurant is probably Hungry Flats diner in Lockwood. Not too far if you are coming from the areas on the SE part of FHL.

Where to you send your registration and permit info? FHL website says PLEASE DO NOT SEND WEAPONS REGISTRATION APPLICATIONS TO FMWR – HUNTING PERMIT REGISTRATION. WEAPONS REGISTRATION APPLICATIONS ARE SENT TO LAW ENFORCEMENT. READ “MEMORANDUM” AT THE RIGHT.

The Memorandum says

Director of emergency services
ATTN: Weapons registration
PO box 893
Jolon, Ca 93928-0893

Is there where you send both weapons registration and permit information?

King city is probably your best bet. Lots of good places to eat and stay. About a 20 minute drive to where the front gate used to be at.

Weapons registration paper go to that address and the application permit goes to a different address... Its the address on the application permit itself... With the weapons registration u don't send money order except u put in a self addressed envelope with a stamp on it and after they process the paper they send it back to u... With the application permit, u send the order with it and u can do a self addressed envelope or just email confirmation... Either ways... When its confirm by both... U still gotta go there in person to get your picture id taken

Semi hijacking here but, with regards to bringing guests., the regs read that you can bring a non hunting guest. It says in the regs document that you need to register them. Is that still true in the teletrac era? Thx.

JDM, I dont think you have to register them. I have never had to with the teletrac in the past at least

So what's with the big bold letters saying not to send it to the FMWR, the memo said send to the director of emergency services. This is what threw me off.

Anyone one have an email contact or phone number I can call to straighten this out?

831-386-2677. That's the registration desk number. They are usually there after 8am during the week.

You can't register non hunting guests thru teletrac. Just put them on your vehicle pass as guest that you put on your dash as your out in the field.

I spoke to them, they took my name and number. Said they will probably just walk the permit forms over to the recreation area. We will see ?
