FHL Trip

Well I went up to FHL on the weekend of 03/07/02.  Struck out! I hunted area 29 with my bow. I saw pig sign, but didnt get to see any pigs. I did have a pig grunting in front of me at about 20 yrds, but that happened at 4am. It was still to dark to see.Of course a group of idiots shooting about 10-15 shotgun slugs at a group of pigs didnt help hunting the area much. They did their shooting at about 8:30 am, after that everything was hiding. The pigs they shot at were down by the reseivor. I do mean shot at... it sounded like a war zone! and they didnt hit anything! But they did succeed at screwing it up for everyone else. I Know at least 2 pigs were taken in other areas. But after all that I still had a good time. Got to see a lot of deer, snuck up on a bobcat, and of course seeing the Elk up close was nice too. anyone else go hunting there that week?

Hey Bohunter, I didn't go up there but I'd like to go up there sometime soon. It's to bad that things didn't go all that well but I glad you still had a good time. Just seeing those animals that you mentioned up close would make my day also. Better luck next time.

Hey bohunter. Typical fhl . You don't wanna go during bird season. Especially duck. I went in 29 1 time. There was these guys shooting unplugged shotguns. Like 5 of them. Shooting mud hens & ducks just leaving them in the water. Needless to say. Someone ??? turned them in. They did get in trouble too. Never have seen them back either. Thats the thing ya know you have to shoot first. Cause after that well you know. Did you make it all the way to the lake? What did it look like down there if so? Wait till you get to experience deer season You'll love that lol

How was the weather during the day? I'm sure its freezing at night. Can you hunt one area one day like 29 then 30 the next?

slugblaster. You can change up to 4 times. You sign in 1 area. Then you can change area's 3 other times,in a weekend.

One of the guys with me played hide and seek with a piggy for a few hours in area 25. but just as the pig got out of the heavy brush he heard a shot. sure enough someone was driving by (its allowed in area 25) and the pig showed up . my buddy didnt even go over to look, just went back to his car to start over in another area. the pig was down by the bridge that crosses over to area 29.
