I've been searching and pounding the brush since arriving on FHL in June this year. I was still hunting and actually heard him snoring! Snuck downwind and got to 49 lasered yards then BOOM/SMOKE-where is he going?
30-40 yards into the brush and he went back to sleep for the last time!

Weighed 151# dressed, dropped him with a 245gr Barnes MZ spitfire BT over 100gr pyrodex pellets.

Now, gotta get one with my bow/.500 S&W!

Tried to attach a photo-hope this works!

Did you get him the Wednesday before Christmas? I am pretty sure I met you up there. I was with two other guys driving in the Rubicon. We had an elk Tag and hunted 13W/10 the day you took this hog. Anyway's, congrats on the hog.

Hog taken on 23rd Dec.2010

Yea, figured out I wasn't gonna get one during the summer so I used the time to learn every training area I could sign into. What area's I felt held deer and which held hog. Next year I'll be tagging out a Big Bull Bow Tule(I Hope!).
-Winchester X-150 stainless bolt-action ML
- Yea, you shoulda seen me get stuck the other day in 13A; Don't leave the road when it rains!
Thinking of going to Vandenberg tomorrow. I have the day off and they didn't get the training areas open for the week. If I did my job like that, I would get jacked up for failing to do my job!:(
-I really did see that Big Bull in 10!
So far: 1 Buck, 1 Hog, 4 coyote, 3 plus limits of quail! Having a ball back in the golden state. I do miss the treestand bowshot and bear hunting the Appalacians a little though. But not that much. 15 years in Tennessee and I only shot, hit, and didn't recover 1 hog though. So far so good.

Thats what everyone keeps telling us. The biggest bull on FHL is in TA 10. But of course, We walked the depths of 10 & 13W and didn't see one Tule. Congrats on the hog. I think I am coming back up there in February.

If you want to get shown around, get hold of me. You can find me at the gun club after you check in. Ask for Alan. I am off this week but will be on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday next week. Weather's pretty good. BTW; the roads aren't any better here than they are up there.

Re:

If you are hunting with a Muzzle loader at FHL do you have to hunt in the primitive weapons zone?

I saw him the day after X-mas hanging around with his 4 other bachelor bulls near the flat where all the military trucks were parked. I also saw him bedded down under an oak tree on a hillside near Sulphur Spring Road on new years day all by himself.
