Looking to get my first AR just for fun at the range. What are your thoughts on Ruger AR-556?

Thanks

Are you going for quality or for price? I wouldnt go with a ruger. There is some parts on it that are ruger specific and you cant change them. Same goes for smith and wesson.

get whatever suits your fancy! thats the beauty of the ar platform, you can get something basic, and change it as you go.

What is your price range? Ruger uses a piston op rod setup, not like a std. DI AR. There are opinions and pros/cons of each.

The 6920 is a fine AR and reasonably priced. It is Milspec with the exception of the giggle switch.
There are recommendations all over the web for the Colt model for new buyers.
