Well my first Elk hunt, and first hunt at FHL, was a success. Tagged out on the opener of the 448 antlerless hunt. My son and I were able to sneak up on a herd of about 30 cows and a bull at about 1030 am. Took the shot from about 100 yds with a TC Omega loaded with 250gr Barnes TEZ and 110 gr of blackhorn 209. Worked like a champ!

As cool as it is to tag out on the opener I really wish the experience could've lasted longer. Having my son with me and being out in the country that FHL has to offer was awesome and something I will do again.

I also need to thank the many members on here you have helped me out and given me advice about this hunt. Specifically Navy SWO, LTDan, and mike cook 82.

Pics to come, my tapatalk is not cooperating right now.

Nicely done. You were the first to tag out for this hunt and did it in an area that took some work. My buddy hunted 13E pretty the last few days of the hunt but never got a clear shot. Way to go!

Thanks everyone.
Mike - getting it back through that ravine was no fun, luckily I had a come-along in the truck.

With the cart, There is only one other way I would have went and that is over the saddle where the two ridges parallel jolon and meet. If you could have wheeled it over that saddle on the trail it would have put you at the gate(after about 2 miles of rolling it down a flat dirt road) at the 1st gate on argyle road. Good Job man!
