Hi fellas. Been awhile..... anyway, thought I'd post up a couple pics of two hunts I just finished. One was a cow elk hunt up at the Tavaputs Ranch, near Price Utah at 10,000 ft. I didn't have an opportunity to put my crosshairs on an elk until the last hour of the last day (it was a 3.5 day hunt) and was pegged by the herd about the minute I walked around a bend. They were on a mountainside 360 yards away. Hit her lower than I thought, at the top of the front shoulder and the bullet or bone exploded and took out her back hock too, so she couldn't go anywhere until we got up the mountain. Dang these things are HUGE!!!!!!!!!! They estimated 6=700 lbs on the hoof!

Normally, and being a muzzeloader hunter, I don't take shots more than 150-200 yards, but I had my trusty M70 Winchester 30-06 with a scope this hunt, it was the last hour and I got a steady rest so I took the shot. Huge storm was looming and the temps had been down in the 40s at night so we had to gut her, then pick her up the next morning (in a blizzard in fact), so it all worked out! The other hunt was a 1.5 day Pronghorn hunt the following week in Colorado, I'll post a pic and a story in that forum in a few. Here's a few shots from the elk hunt. I've never seen the mountains more beautiful and got out just in time before the snow got any worse!
