first hog

I killed my first hog on Nov 23 at Camp Roberts. I was by the river when four hogs came down for a swim at 2:00. When she came out on my side I popped her using a remington model 700 30-06 with a Barnes XLC. She dressed out at 75 pounds. I took her to Phils Ole Butcher Shop in Grover Beach. Best sausage I ever had. We had wild hog smoked ham for Christmas. I'll be going again soon for another one.

Two weeks before I shot mine I saw two hunters come in with 3 hogs. They shot them by the river right up by the freeway. Yep, there are a lot of hogs there.
