I am making the dash this weekend to FLH. going to do gibb hall for a bed
but I could only guess where to hunt.
So If your not going this weekend and you know good spot for a newbee,
let me know. or if you know where "not" to go, I'd like that to.
Im in a white chevy z71, say hi if your up there.

Ps. this is for pig only, please...no wild goose hunts for the newbee

Wolf I garauntee that someone at one point or another has killed a pig in all the TAs btw pigs were seen in 16B during new years but its bow only. Try area 7 early early in the am near the hunting ranch...

If FHL personnel is at the game shack, ask to see the "pig kill sheet." It shows the tally of all hogs killed at FHL (that is, legitimate kills).

Headed up next weekend. Plan on killing two birds with one stone by hunting for pig and scouting for elk so I have a lay of the land for next fall. It will be my first time on FHL so let me know if anyone had any luck or if you have any good areas for rifle.

I ended up at 25 where it has been closed for two years they say. On the road in we came across a big herd of ELK no more than 30 yards off the road. (priceless). I stopped and glassed for a few. they were not sure what to do, stare or spook. I saw a lot of big bulls in the group, great racks. I would love that tag. this was the first time I have run into a herd this big and this close. but I was there to pig hunt.
went down by the river/stream walked from the bridge to the old house way back in the thick and thin. (nothin). all day till dark. (nothin). went back early sunday morning got up high over looking the valley next to the water walked all over saw a lot of signs. (nothin). changed area to 7. that was a great area. I saw a lot a deer in 7. they were everywhere. no pig. so for my first time there it was great. didn't harvest but it was still a great place to be.
the views, the wild life, even the 20 degree mornings walking in the ice covered grass was great. Thanks to everyone for your input. now that I know how it works there I plan on going back.
Ps. I stayed at the days inn room 106 in King City. parked next to me was a brown? suv with a few "Jesse's Hunting" stickers on each side rear. I was wondering who that might have been ???

Glad you enjoyed the place, it is an awesome place to hunt. Best public land hunting in socal.
