I went Hog hunting for the first time this week with Nolan Twissleman Outfitter. On the morning I was to leave for the hunt, I received an email from Nolan that he sent the night before. Nolan said he had been scouting over the last two days and did not see a single pig. Nolan said the pigs were moving mainly at night, because his trail cams were picking them up from 8pm to 3am. Nolan advised I reschedule. Even though I was bummed about the news from the Nolan, I decided to head up anyways to give it a shot. I arrived about 4pm at the ranch and after unloading and settling into his guest house, we headed up the hill for an evening hunt. Now I'm not kidding, but about 10 minutes into the hunt we spotted 6 pigs trotting up a hillside about 300 yards away. We parked and started following them down into a canyon with thick brush. After about 15 minutes of chasing them, I got about 50 yards from a nice boar and was able to get a shot off. Straight through the heart and that was it. Nolan advised me it usually wasn't that easy, but hey I was not complaining. We eastimated the pig weighed in a little under 200 pound.
I highly recommend Nolan Twissleman Outfitters. Nolan is a great guy and guide. His prices are just right which includes lodging.
