DELTA REGION/SACRAMENTO RIVER side - The schoolie-size striper bite held over the weekend, according to reports from Sandy Beach. Blood worms worked well. This week's minus tides should profit all,as the big swings will move more current.It may entice sturgeon to go for grass shrimp, ghost shrimp and roe.BERKELEY - Halibut are happening, and the El Dorado was out scoring flatties last weekend, four from the Berkeley Flats and another four from Paradise. The California Dawn returns to Berkeley from Martinez this week and will offer halibut trolling trips until live bait is available.EMERYVILLE - The fleet has started halibut trips. The New Huck Finn scored success for a couple dozen anglers over the weekend, bringing in fish up to 20 pounds.SUISUN BAY - The spring striper run is on until they head upstream. Capt. Steve Talmadge on Flash Fishing reported a good bite Saturday, including a 31-pounder. Bullheads tempted the bass.SACRAMENTO RIVER, Knights Landing - Fishing for stripers was good at times between Meridian and Knights Landing. The key to success was to make a move when fishing slowed. Cut bait worked best, but minnow fishing was improving. Anglers got surprised by, and broken off by, sturgeon taking their pileworms and sardines on too-light striper gear.
