I was shopping Cabelas, basspro, etc... and got to thinking....
I've read so many times about hogs that get "stuck" and then dissappear never to be seen again... probably dead under some bush somewhere. Happens to deer and Elk too, but it seems like Hogs are particularly stubborn when impaled with an arrow.
Has anyone tried "Tracking String?"
Of coruse I can't find the link right now... but essentially it's a coil of super thin, flouresent thread that sits inside a reel attached to the bow. The thread attaches to the arrow right behind the broadhead by means of a little clip on barb. The broadhead is free to pass through the animal, as the barb breaks away on impact, burrowing into the skin. As the animal flees this long thread trails behind it. 1000 feet can fit in the palm of your hand... I'm sure you'd clip it before then (so the weight doesn't pull the barb free). But even 100 feet of bright thread would be helpful in thick brush... don't you think?
My concerns would be any effect on arrow flight, possibly lesser accuracy, and I'm sure it would slow the arrow some... but I imagine it would be easily compensated for by adjusting the sights.
What do you guys think?
