My son and I had a quota hunt permit for a 3 day gun hunt on a management area in florida. He hasn't seen much all season sitting in a tree stand so we decided to leave the stands at home and slip hunt. We went to an area that I knew we could get away from the other hunters and first morning I killed an 80 lb boar. Went back that afternoon after cleaning my pig and I talked him into climbing a tree where his sister missed a big buck during the archery hunt we had permits for earlier in the season. He didn't see anything so the next morning it was back to slipping for hogs. Shortly after sunrise slipped up on this 150 lb boar and he was able to get a good shot on him. It was a pretty hog, if you can call a hog pretty, brindle hams, white shoulder strap and tan head with some decent cutters. Picture doesnt do him justice. Saw several other hogs, the one he had a good shot at would have gone 250 easy kind of glad he didn't shoot it. Long haul out of where we were. Spent the afternoon processing the 2 hogs. Last day of hunt could only hunt the morning so went to same area he got the boar from and found a group of 5 and he was able to get an 80 lb sow out of the group and to the house we went. He hasn't got anything the past couple of years and was getting frustrated. It was a nice hunt, wasn't too hot and got to spend some quality time with my son walking in the woods, and filled the freezer to boot.
