I don't think you had a brain fart, there is no such thing as a good area in FHL. From the many years that I have hunted there I can say that with confidence. Traffic at FHL is so high that game will not stay in one area for even a few hours. But my favorite places to hunt are area 23,24,29 and sometimes 2 or 7. Good luck.

Is it still first-come, first-served as far as getting into the Fort to hunt? It has been years since I hunted there. Are there reservations or just show up, after checking on the phone for status? How long does it take to get your permit back after you mail it in? (Is it too late for quail opener, in other words?)

Thanks! I did check the info on Jesse's home page, but didn't quite get the above answers.

It is first come first served. Each section can fill up, so get there early. The time for the voucher to get back to you varies. You have the option of having them hold your voucher for you if you want to risk that. It worked out for me.

Well to put my 2 cents in.....for the money I spent going to FHL I put into a private hunting club....and glad I did.....FHL isn't worth the hassles anymore.....but that's my opinion.....
