Yesterday, my friend Ron & I hit FHL. We got there at 5:40am, signed in and headed for area 16. We stopped at the 15-16 split road and waited for daylight. We then started our ride down the road, and then the fun began. as slow as i could drive, my Tahoe had good traction, but once in the area, it was slippery as hell. we almost got stuck a couple of time's, but made it through the morning hunt. When we got to the 15-16 and I think 20 split, we saw a group of maybe 15 hog's all like a pack of sardine's, we got out took aim with our muzzleloaders. I said which one do you want, he replied does it matter, just shoot. So I said, the big one, 200 + lb's, to the lower right, he said good, I'll back you up. I shot and then he did, less then 1 second later he saw the hog buckle up, on my shot. But we went looking for him for 2 hr's with no luck finding it.
Then on our way back to my Tahoe we hear a siren, every minute or so, and it was moving. While walking down to my Tahoe, we see the game warden, and he let's us know that he knew we didn't get any info, that the 16-16B river road was closed and we need to know, and that we couldn't hunt the section of 16. Only because the troop's where, shooting just over the hill. We couldn't hear anything but left anyways. He lead us out of that area. It was still a blast, it was like the Duke's of Hazzard, sliding everywhere. Just wish we could have found the hog.
