Fort Hunter Liggett Opener... Who going?

I was curious as to why no shot gun slugs were allowed. If its a touchy subject could I get a pm on it? I am hoping 25 opens up. Hunted pig there and I all I saw were deer lol.

They dont allow slugs in certain areas because they said slugs can be shot rapidly with a shotgun as for a muzzle loader only a single shot which makes it dangerous.. Therefore certain areas had soilders training in the neighboring areas and it was a safety hazard.. Said by the commander at Liggett.... The areas closed for shotgun slugs are also close to main roads outside of the areas... 25 is a great zone! Lot of flat land.... Also has moutains tops and canyons that are worth to sit and gloss around... The river is also a good bet... And right by 29 where they are neighbors... I'm hopin 27 opens up for rifle..

Thanks makes sense. Ya 25 has a nice hill my jeep climbed to the top of. You could command the whole mountain side from there.

Following are the areas and weaponry for FHL this past weekend. It shouldn't have been with a rifle.


Hunt Areas open for hunting Saturday August 13, 2011 through Sunday August 14, 2011 are as follows:

• General weapons: 4, 8, 11, 14, 17, 18, 23, 26
• Archery, Crossbow Muzzleloader, Shotgun with Birdshot ONLY: 1, 5, 7, 9, 13W, 19, 24, 28
• All Other Areas Are Closed - NO ACCESS
  

Hopefully they open up 10 soon. I personally love hunting 10/13W. I have spent alot of time back there in those canyons. If you are willing to get out of the truck and do some leg work, you will get an opportunity at an animal.

anyone got the story on a truck with a buck in the back, and the game wardens following them back? this was saturday evening. looks like they were giving a citation and escorted the truck back to the shack.
